Welcome
|
|
Welcome to West London Citizens. We are part of London Citizens,
the capital's largest and most diverse campaigning alliance
of active citizens and community leaders.
West London Citizens Newsletter June 2008
Assembly Feedback, Listening to London, Ealing Dinner Ladies, Independent Asylum Commission, Greener Planet, Hilton Update, Strangers into Citizens and more...
Our members
include faith communities, trade unions, schools and other
community-based institutions. We are not party political and
we do not take money from Government. London Citizens is a
registered charity, and we welcome donations.
London Citizens aims to make sure that local people have
a voice and are listened to in the political and business
decisions that affect our communities. Through democratic
decision-making amongst our members we agree on common problems
that face our communities and we work for change by building
relationships with people in positions of power. We are willing
when necessary to take peaceful direct action. Our strength
lies in our numbers, in our broad base of diverse institutions,
and in the commitment of our members to the common good.

London Citizens offers a schedule
of two and five-day training courses aimed at developing communication,
personal leadership and team building skills. The training develops
the skills necessary to be an effective community leader, and is
suited to people who are new to community organising as well as
those with many years of experience.
The course syllabus includes:
- new leadership techniques
- how to connect faith and values
to action
- the role that power and self-interest
play in holding a group together and making the world work
- campaigning methodology that
helps strengthen your organisation.
